Pastor Henry Wright Sermon Transcript & Audio - The Jesus Nobody Wants « Christian Sermons, Music & Videos

Let us pray. O father I raise the question Lord because you gave it to me in my notes, what would I be like if I really really let you take control? It's scary. Too many things might have to be cut loose of too many changes might come too quickly. You might really throw me in that fire and really refine me. Oh boy let's take this thing slower. Somebody here really needs to think about that. As we as a Christian community today just celebrate Christ but we wanted to unfold and reveal the real Christ of Scripture who blesses and curses. Who lifts but will knock you down. Who saves but will refine you. Who loves and forgives but who keeps working on us until we are what he knows we can be. Help me to love all that you are Jesus, some are praying with me that prayer helped me to love you for all that you are, Jesus. We thank you in Jesus name and all the people said amen. Daniel Hale Williams was eleven when his father died and Williams was forced to make a living on his own. In 1891 against great odds and almost singlehandedly Dan Williams created Providence Hospital. It would be used by black and white doctors thus hastening the end to operations performed on couches and kitchen tables in crowded tenements on Chicago south side. There is A Balm in Gilead Hymn and Lyrics « Videos & Stories Behind Hymns

There is a Balm in Gilead is one of the most famous Black American negro spirituals. There have been various versions of this spiritual over the years and first appearance of this spiritual in its present form is uncertain. Washington Glass included it in his hymn "The Sinners Cure" in 1854 and attributed it to himself but it is definitely not his. It appears to draw its inspiration from Jeremiah chapter 8 v. 22: "Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there on healing for the wounds of my people?". In this spiritual the balm is spiritual medicine to deal with the sins of God's people. Read more: http://christianmusicandhymns.blogspot.com/2015/06/there-is-balm-in-gilead-hymn-and-lyrics.html
